Wändi Bruine de Bruin

Wändi Bruine de Bruin received her PhD in Behavioural Decision Making and Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University (US), and an MSc in Cognitive Psychology from the Free University in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). From January 2020, de Bruin is Provost Professor of Public Policy, Psychology, and Behavioral Science at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. At USC, the role of Provost Professor is an honor bestowed upon “outstanding interdisciplinary scholars appointed by the Provost.” Wandi also serves as the Director of the Behavioral Science Initiative in the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics, and continues her affiliation with USC’s Center for Economic and Social Research, which runs the national “Understanding America Study” survey panel and the USC / LA Times Daybreak Election Polls.

Her research interests include individual differences in decision-making across the lifespan; consumer decisions about health, finances and sustainability; risk perception and risk communication; and behaviour change. Her research has been published in high-ranking journals in disciplines including economics, psychology, public health, and engineering. With colleagues in the Center for Economic and Social Research, she is running a national longitudinal survey to track symptoms, risk perceptions, health outcomes, economic experiences, and mental health during the COVID-19 epidemic in the US.

Professor Bruine de Bruin contributes experimental work to the present research programme.
